Following on from the Dinamo Zagreb post…

It was sad when Yugoslavia broke up. Because of the conflicts that followed obviously. The former Yugoslavia were always a formidable footballing opponent. But now instead of one team we now have the additional formidable opponents with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia and today’s subject: Croatia.

Croatia

– Their biggest moment came in the 1998 World Cup with a Semi Final and eventual 3rd place finish.

A football and musical recollection of that:

I think Branimir might be rubbing it in because he added this video from England v Croatia in 2007:

The official video:

» Nered feat. Zapresic Boyz – Srce Vatreno

» Lyrics (in Croatian and English).

And finally here’s one from the last World Cup. I included it in the 2014 World Cup collection:

“An unofficial World Cup song, Vatreni Zmajevi by Ante Cash aims to unite Bosnian and Croatian supporters. The lyrics include a line about the neighbouring states facing each other in the final while singer completes a sticker album with players from both squads forming a single team.”
