World Cup draw

To get you warmed up for the upcoming draw for the World Cup, some (slightly) related music.

This first is from the Rochdale born now South African citizen Johnny Clegg. This was released in 1994 and was featured on the Rain Man movie soundtrack. Update: I’ve just read that he will be appearing at the draw to help it drag on for at least another four hours.

This next one I’ve decided is going to be the Official Football and Music 2010 World Cup Anthem. This was given away as a free download via Amazon.com and is going to be our theme tune for next summer:

Youssou N Dour » Youssou N’Dour feat. Neneh Cherry – Wake Up It’s Africa Calling (Youssou Remix)

» Lastly an artist & song which was chosen by the maFIFA to be the official anthem of the 2010 WC.
The singer is a Somali born now Canadian citizen called K’nann (pronounced Keinan) and I think they’ve actually made a good choice here.

The anthem song a remixed version of a track from a few months back and after listening I have to say it’s very Wycliff Jean, but still…there’s enough room in the world for both of them.

K'naan » K’naan – Wavin’ Flag – The Celebration Mix

…and the original:

» K’naan – Wavin’ Flag

– You can find more of his stuff at Amazon.

So then whilst the Fatt Bladder surrounds himself with leggy models as he thinks about more seeding (ok that’s an image I should have never put in your head), let’s watch with him watching them as they play with some balls…

…and wait to see Brazil to be drawn in a group of death along with North Korea, New Zeland and Algeria… Drag out your Vuvuzela horn and play along.
