Here We Go…

…then. » An update on one I posted the other day: Mario Alaimo created some music in which he used a bit of Mozart mixed in some footie commentary and audio of the draw for the finals taking place. He submitted this to UEFA for them to use as a theme somewhere but they passed on it, so we adopted it as the official theme for our Euro 2008 coverage. There’s now a video to accompany the song which you can view below: Scissor Productions “Mozart Loves Football” The Unofficial Song Euro 2008 You can find more about Mario and…

Song For Euro 2008 – The Hosts

From here on in I’ll be searching for and posting the finding of any songs either by or related to the tournament participants. Today I naturally begin with the co-hosts: Austria and Switzerland. . . .   AUSTRIA So for the Austrian national team I found… Nothing. Nada. Nowt. Not an Austrian sausage. With their fans being fearful of getting a mauling a petition was started with 10,000 people signing it, so I’m not surprised to find that nobody wants to sing about the team. I might be wrong though. My German isn’t what it used to be and Google…

Jumping On The Mozart Bandwagon

The FootieAndMusic Podcast

I told you didn’t I. Mario Alaimo got it. ITV got it and now Auntie is doing the logical thing with their Euro 2008 coverage: BBC chooses Unkle for Euro 2008 Dance group Unkle’s version of a Mozart symphony has been chosen as the theme for BBC Sport’s coverage of Euro 2008. The interpretation of Symphony no. 41 will be illustrated by an animated title sequence produced by the BBC with Aardman Animations. The choice of Mozart reflects the fact the event, which begins on 7 June, is being staged in Switzerland and the composer’s birthplace of Austria. ITV Sport…

Let’s Look At The Local Talent…

eurovision ?

The other day I talked about UEFA getting Johnny Foreigner in to do the official theme song…or songs as it turned out for the tournament. But luckily the Swiss and Austrian footballing authorities recognised that they still needed to cash in themselves promote the finals to their citizens so they brought in some local acts. The Austrians went with Christine Strümer, who was discovered on an Austrian TV talent show. Christine was a runner up in this show but like Clay Aiken on American Idol she became more successful than the winner. The Austrian/Euro 2008 song: » Christine Sturmer –…

Come On… Just Pick One

I kicked off the event with us adopting Mario Alaimo’s tune as the official song for the Football and Music website Euro 2008 coverage. (You had your chance UEFA, but you blew it). As mentioned Mario submitted his song to the powers that be to used for the tournament, but they decided to go with… Well it looks like they couldn’t make their minds up. Now when you think of Switzerland you think of… of… clocks, cuckoos…chocolate… But not much with the music. When you think of Austria though it comes to you immediately. Which is why I’m puzzled. Mario’s…

Who Have You Adopted ?

So with the home nations sitting this one out… *long pause*… Which team have you decided to follow in the Euro 2008 Finals ? The Guardian has also asked this question and has various people arguing the case for a particular team. eg: Sir Geoff Hurst is going for The Netherlands. There’s also a poll (closing in two days) in which you can vote on who we should back for Euro 2008. I myself have chosen to adopt Spain. The reason why is because they are very alike to England. Spain have some great individual players who never quite to…

The F&M Euro 2008 Theme

Spotted this article on the Beeb about the music that ITV will use for their Euro 2008 coverage: Soprano to sing Euro 2008 anthem Welsh opera singer Natasha Marsh will sing the theme tune for ITV’s coverage of the Euro 2008 football tournament. The 27-year-old soprano has recorded the Queen Of The Night aria from Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute. “I was delighted to do it,” she said. “I love the passion, beauty and power that football and music share.” … The aria is said to be one of the most demanding in opera because it requires sopranos to hit…

Coldplay’s Disney Time

“Inside/outside… livin’ la vida loca….” Did they replace Chris with Ricky ? You sure ? Then what’s with the title…? He did contribute a song to the 1998 World Cup CD, was that an influence when they were recording I wonder ? Anyhoddles in an effort to flog their new album in the U.S.A (which is where the big revenue is obviously) the band have got into bed with Mickey Mouse. The article that gives me a weak excuse to post some of their music comes via AP/Yahoo News: Coldplay to help ESPN market European Championship soccer BRISTOL, Conn. –…
