My full time werk is keeping me away from here. I’ll try to post something when I can.
Today’s post needs your involvement:

The gossip/paparrazi website TMZ.com has Derek and Skeletor on their radar since they moved to La La Land, but recently Mr C.Ronaldo went over to L.A for a holiday and this caught TMZ’s attention and they were less than complimentary…

Honestly when you have nearly all the attention because of the uncertainty of where you will be kicking a ball next season, going to the center of all the world’s media is a bit of a silly move. (Like the one he will probably make in a couple of weeks). Or maybe he did it on purpose…

Judging by the what is reported I think Ronaldo likes, even loves the attention and wants more. MORE !

Maybe he wants to be bigger than Derek. He wants to have all the newspaper gossip. Not just on the back pages, but all the pages. He’s lining himself up, media and financially-wise, to be the next Beckham.

But is he there yet ?

Do you think that Ronaldo is now the football star or does Derek still hold that crown ?

The track is short and sweet and comes via a Swedish artist who performs under the name of Strawberry Fair.

Strawberry Fair is the stage name of Swedish soul/pop musician Jenny Franzén. Inspired by bands such as The Aislers Set, Shop Assistants and Television Personalities she began writing her own material in the early part of the 21st century. 2003 saw the release of her first two self financed CD-R singles: “Empty Wallets and Greedy Companies” and “Strawberry Fair”. That same year her song “Don’t Take Everything So Seriously” was featured on “Picknick Picks!”, a cassette compilation put together by the Swedish fanzine Picknick and the California based record company Popgun.

I’m surprised that the Beeb and none of the others have reported on this yet – a Press Association news item released yesterday:

England set for USA clash

The Football Association are close to sealing an agreement for a friendly between England and the USA at Wembley on May 28…

… A friendly against the USA would inevitably lead to hopes that David Beckham would play for England in order to boost interest in the match in the States.

If Beckham is not picked by England manager Fabio Capello for the friendly against France in Paris later this month then the May date would be the next opportunity for the Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder to win his 100th cap.

So Derek will get his 100th and final cap.

As mentioned in the item there is another friendly at the end of this month. Fabio has said that he will only pick old Goldenbolls if he is fit and playing well, but the MLS season still hasn’t started yet. They are still doing pre-season friendlies throughout Asia.

Now this convenient arrangement has come along is a perfect opportunity to give Derek a proper send off into semi-retirement.

The origins of the name came from this mention in a popbitch mailout a few years ago:

After this the members of the PB Board started to call him (Bo) Derek Beckham.
So now you know.

But back to the game in hand…

Can anyone see him being picked again after the financial opportunity ? (which really is what this match is all about).

Sadly apart from this discography, there’s little to no information about the band.

I read that post on I’m Not Always So Stupid a while back and made a mental note to come back and download the song, but then forgot about it. I went back today but sadly the link was dead. I then searched to see if anyone else had posted anything and found this post to a couple of albums which were ripped to mp3 from the original vinyl..

I’m not sure if that blog is the originator of the post, but either way it gave me a chance to get the Mousefolk track and to discover some other forgotten recordings.

“…two of my top favorite records here, taken from the golder era of indie pop … Airspace! (Breaking Down Records, 1989) and its sequel Airspace II (Breaking Down Records, 1990) were two charity compilations, released in Bristol … artists participating here were the best people of the indie pop scene back then …”

On the Airspace II album there are some recognisable names including The Wedding Present who cover the Penetration song – Don’t Dictate. There’s also Cud, Mega City 4, The Groove Farm and a stand out track from The Darling Buds:

It seems that Derek has forgotten about his blog even though he’s got plenty of time on his hands right now. Time he is going to spend, according to entertainment/gossip websites, wearing tight underpants so he can get it on with Skeletor and conceive a girl.
(Do we really need that much information ?)

Until Derek remembers that he has a blog and gets one of his assistants to make something up to post; some related stuff we’ve found:

Gift Grub is a comedy sketch thing originating from Irish radio station Today FM. Usually Gift Grub’s skits are in the form of a song about a famous subject. You might have heard one of their productions – “José and his Amazing Technicolor Overcoat” – in the F & M Jukebox.

Here’s another one of their efforts, to the tune of The Streets song Dry Your Eyes, – Roy Keane phones Beckham after England’s defeat against France in Euro 2004, to console him:

Derek was so excited by that goal that the first thing he did after he was subbed was to post an update on his blog:

“Hello everypeeps,

I know, another blog so soon, but after me match t’other day I couldn’t wait to let you know howz I feels.

It was funny to start the darts match against D.C. (Didcot Council) United but to actually bend one in on me first propa home game was more than I could have hoped for, an intensely moment for me. On top of that I was handed Capstan Full Strenth (which I fought they didn’t make anymore, but anyways…) at the start of the game and I felt like me lungs were going to blow after a few puffs of that. I definitely hope there are a few more of those!

Ize real fit, (hanging round too much with me mate Ali G too much me finks. Starting to talk likes him now) so that was very goodz. I was well pleased to pull a good hour after the lock-in, but ‘specially pleased that we won and we’re in the final of the South Oxford Darts SuperLiga. The fags were superb all night and I thought we deserved to get some more, even though Didcot Council gave us a few probs and had a strong beer.

I’m now looking forward to our next round away at Red Bull Arms, Near Yeading, and hope to play a part in that. Hopefully, we can build on last night’s result.
