Singing For England
Posted on February 24, 2010 | Filed under: Music | | Comments Off

So you’ve read that there will be no official England World Cup song.
So you think you can fill that void ?
So then tell us about it.
I know I’m going to regret this, but it’s as inevitable as [insert team here] being knocked out by [insert other team here] (don’t want to jinx it), so might as well address the issue.
We’ll be sorting the wheat from the chaff and deciding – or more correctly – let you decided what is going to be the unofficial song for England this June.
I will update this page with the latest entries into the competition to find the best (?) song for England.
But before we continue… A look at some that went before:
|
- In 2006 there were at least a hundred candidates for an unofficial tune. I posted a list, with the helps of the chaps on the WSC Message Boards, of some of these songs. |
|
- It wasn’t restricted to your normal punter though, there were a few well known names who also tried to |
|
- The tabloid media also joined in, with the Talksport Allstars going up against the (scummy Sun’s) Allstars. Neither were winners. |
|
- The best one from four years ago (in our opinion) came from Dreadzone. This needs to be re-released. |
UPDATE UPDATE: Round 1 voting is closed. Round 2 is now open.
