"He came third, in goal of the month..."
That just might be my new favourite opening line for a song... EVER. Great, great post, as always top-drawer!

One of those two goals came in the 3-1 home defeat to Everton in the FA Cup fourth round in 1975, and was shown as a feature match on Match of the Day. In a season that would eventually see Argyle promoted from Division 3, it's typical that the nation saw us dispatched with relative ease - and saw "veteran goalie Jim Furnell" have an absolute mare. Barrie's goal was a bit special though - hence its third place in Goal of the Month!
