One of the most prolific strikers in history. In his time Gerd Mueller scored 68 goals in 62 international appearances, 66 goals in 74 European Club games (both records) and 365 goals in 427 Bundesliga games.

According to the stats only Pelé and Romário are higher on the all-time goalscorer rankings.

…and lucky for us “Der Bomber” liked to belt out a tune too. In the late 60’s/early 70’s he was Keegan-like with his attempts at the popular charts. Between 1969 and 1974 he released four singles*
*Three with him singing, the 4th was just an interview disc.

» His first single released in 1967 sound exactly like a song recorded in 1967 would sound:

Gerd Muller single from 1967
» Gerd Muller – Raba Da Da

» Gerd hit his peak in 1969 with this one that has all the essential football and music song requirements, oompah band, sound effects of the crowd, a simple singalong-able chorus and of course – the title: “There’s a shooting festival.”

Gerd Muller - Das Gibt Ein Schutzenfest
» Gerd Muller – Des Gibt Ein Schutzenfest

» Gerd Muller – Bleib am Ball (stay tuned)

» This is also from 1969 and check out the most excellent picture for the single:

» Gerd Mueller – Dann macht es bumm

Extra Time:

– An Austrian band Stahl (English: Steel) who’s musical style according to this page is: “…straight forward Hard-Rock with AC/DC Sound and kick-ass german lyrics” I don’t know about the AC/DC comparison, more Hanoi Rocks or one of the other hair bands like that. Take a listen for yourself though:

» Stahl – Gerd Müller
