Continuing the ska and England World Cup song theme…

- Three efforts starting with:

We Are The Rulers

Which is a collabortion featuring the band No. 1 Station and a new young M.C on the UK Grime scene named Trozion (pronounced ‘Trojan’).

“No.1 Station were founded by former Upsetters guitarist ‘Sir’ Marcus Downbeat in 2001, and for the last nine years they have been the vanguards of the latter day resurgence of the traditional sounds of Ska, Rocksteady, and Reggae. Described by BBC Radio 2′s Mark Lamarr as ‘The UK’s premier Ska band’ Marcus and the band have been responsible for the revival of the original Blue Beat label on which they released a fistful of classic singles and have also released two highly acclaimed albums: ‘Keep Up the Pressure’ (Agitator Records) and their latest offering ‘Boss Beat’ (Rockers Revolt Records) which has achieved massive international attention.

Marcus was approached by Disturb Media with the idea of making a Reggae World Cup song. Marcus took the band to Faraday Studios in SE London and recorded the track. They then recruited the MC skills of an upcoming young rapper named Trozion to ‘put the icing on the cake’. ‘We Are The Rulers’ is the stunning result.”

Next we have:

Bogus MC’s

Who are a couple of gangstas straight outta Bracknell, Berkshire… and that’s all I know about them…
Their world cup song is “Message to you Rooney”, a parody of “Rudi a message to you” by Dandy Livingstone and also covered by The Specials.

On their video clip for the song it says that they are looking for help in making a proper video for the song, plus also looking for a record deal.

(Don’t need a record company any more chaps, can do everything yourself via the web these days.)

The Skatoons

I posted this the other week in the knockout vote, reposting again because obviously…
A brief bio on the band:

The Skatoons are a 7 piece Ska band formed early in 2004. The group are based in Lanzarote, Canary Islands.

The original idea to form a Ska band came from original bass player Bob and current keyboard and trumpet player Chris. The group started practicing in Charmers Bar, Playa Blanca. Within 3 months the boys had their first gig in the same venue. A night was held at Medieval times entitiled “Lanz´ska´rote night” shortly after which put them firmly on the map. The band continue to go from strength to strength with a blistering performance at Lanzaid 2005 infront of 5,000 people.

The band continue to expand their set and are currently in the process of writing original material.
