Back The Bid
I'm busy with work elsewhere this week, so please bear with me...

Got this email last Thursday but it’s taken me until now to get around to actually posting something.
Because of the company involved, (I was never fond on BT when I was in Blighty and the irony now being that my phone service provider here is via another monopoly). Plus the fact that we don’t do adverts on Footie and Music (it’s pronounced the same way Trev & Simon used to: “We don’t do duvets !”)…I was initially reluctant to post something, but because of the cause they are promoting I’m in.
“… I want to let you know about what’s happening with the World Cup 2018 bid. As you probably already know England is hoping to host the 2018 World Cup and it needs the support of the nation to help make it a reality.
From today (Thursday 8 April) people across the country are being asked by the official sponsors, BT Vision, to sign a ‘digital flag’ with either their name or photo at www.bt.com/2018 (or text “BT Vision and name” to 62018) – which will then be presented as part of ‘the package’ offered to FIFA in May,
England striker, Peter Crouch, joined 1966 World Cup winner, Geoff Hurst and official sponsors BT at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday to be the first people to show their support for the bid – signing their name with ‘digital light graffiti’ on a massive flag projected onto the side of the stadium, now Peter Crouch has made a video asking footie fans across England to sign-up too:
Three days after this mail the Beancrouch bottled it on the cabbage patch up Empire Way.
As we’ve seen the suits are doing their best to feck it all up, but despite all that as we always do every four years – we live in hope. The World Cup has got to come home at least one more time in my lifetime.
As it says above you can go to that website and “digitally sign” the flag – that costs you nothing.
Some promotional images:
- Another place to go and get more info is at: www.england2018bid.com, which has downloads such as an iPhone app (which is free) and some desktop wallpaper. There’s also the usual social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr – where they are trying to shoot themselves in the foot by getting those well respected figures of Lovejoy and Boris to show their support…
But let’s rise above all that and…Back The Bid.
- A reward for you for taking a moment to show your support with the music used in that above clip:
