Acapella Germany

Yes, yes they’ve only played the one game and it was widely expected (even by me) that it was going to be a draw… But a supposition here: If England do not top their group and finish runners up – get your wallcharts out and have a look for yourselves – in the next round they might be playing…
It’s too soon. The tradition is that #ENG go out to them on pens in the Quarters, not the Round of 16.
As for the team themselves… well we all watched their first match yesterday and I’m going to roll out a terrible cliché now… but they really did look very efficient.
Before this World Cup some pundits were saying that the German team was too young, didn’t quite have the right players for some positions. But as we saw Jogi Löw knows how to get the best out of what he’s got. Another cliché – Never rule out Germany.
- There’s an a capella act from Cologne who before the World Cup appealed (in song naturally) to the coach Joachim Loew to give them and all of Germany, hope.
They are called Basta [Official website] and the five chaps (four Tenors and one Bass) released a South Park inspired video – which is below, along with translated English lyrics.
As you will hear this tune is based upon the Eddy Grant classic Gimme Hope Jo’anna.
Basta - Gimme Hope Joachim:
The Portuguese have the best players; The Brazilians are pretty fast; The Spaniards have not lost three years; But we have the most beautiful hotel.
The Ronaldinho has the best technique; Ronaldo has the best physic; David Beckham has a foot of steel; But Jogi Löw has the most beautiful hairdo.
Gimme hope, Joachim gimme, hope, Joachim!; Gimme hope, Joachim, for the World Cup!; Gimme hope, Joachim gimme, hope, Joachim!; Hope for South Africa …
The Koreans have nimble legs; The Mexicans have a hard shot; The French have a good man in goal; But we have the largest bus …
The Danes strengthen with the protein; The Serbs toil half dead; The Argentinians torture in the jungle camp; But Jogi smears Nutella on his bread …
Gimme hope, Joachim gimme, hope, Joachim!; Gimme hope, Joachim, for the World Cup!; Gimme hope, Joachim gimme, hope, Joachim!; Hope for South Africa …
The Greeks are once again tip; And Switzerland wins outnumbered; The Dutchmen are back with it; But still brings us Jogi ‘Cup …

Sehr gut!
ta ever so much – one day later and I’m völlig addicted… ****ing Ohrwurm :D
try Uwu Lena’s “Schland o Schland” (Eurovision song contest winner’s tune) – macht even more süchtig :D
I was going to suggest Schland o Schland too but Teena beat me to it. The English-language version of Spiegel Online has a story about it and an embedded YouTube video:

and the second version they made is even funnier http://youtu.be/2dNagMJabtw
