The original idea behind Football and Music was to be something to accompany the prediction league, but also to facilitate my quest to find all the FA Cup final songs and videos. Now we’ve expanded that even further. Our new quest is to find any and all songs that are footie and music related.

It has already started with the Football Calypso and today’s installment is straight outta Harlow…

Collapsed Lung (don’t search for them via Google Images. Just don’t.) existed from 1992-1996, and would have been forgotten if it wasn’t for a double A side single released in October ‘96 which has since been used in lots of adverts and countless number of footie compilation videos.

The song was re-released in 1998 to cash in coincide with World Cup 98, and was also used by Ant & Dec on SM:TV (”Wonkey Donkey !”) on one of their phone in competitions.

So now without further Adu. I give you:

…from 1975.

To cushion any potential embarrassment possibly created when Ste McL and his 3rd choice picks play in their match tonight against dem Germans - here’s a previous Eng v Ger friendly from 1975 with Bell, Keegan, Hudson, Macdonald, Ball, Shannon and co:

Commentator for the World Of Sport broadcast was the much missed Brian Moore, and the summariser at the end was the late great Sir Alf Ramsey.

“Ah football eh ? At the old Wembley. Under the floodlights and in the mud. Marvelous.” Ron Manager

The Prediction League is now closed to new signups. This is a guide for the current players.

-> DONATE TO PLAY:

In order to raise some prize money for the winner , the prediction league is a donate to play one.

Donations are purely voluntary and you don’t have to donate to play. BUT. Only those who do donate are eligible to win the donation pot. So it is in your interest to chip something in. It is very bad form not to. You believe in fair play don’t you ? You knock the ball out when somebody is injured ? Then come on then chap, chip in.

Once you have signed up click on the PAYPAL DONATE button and donate towards the prize. Any amount that you wish. Suggested donation is $10, but if you can afford a bit more…
Why is this in U.S. Dollars ?

- The current 1st prize amount is : $50
This will go up once more of the current prediction players have coughed up. Last season the winner got $110
- There will be prizes up for grabs for whoever finishes 2nd and 3rd too.
If you have anything football related you want to donate for the 2nd & 3rd prizes… doesn’t have to be footie related actually, anything at all. The contact me via the about page and let me know what you have.

If you don’t want to or can’t afford to add something to the pot right now don’t worry. You have up to December 31st to chip in.

-> THE PREDICTIONS:
The majority of the time you will be prediction of some of the matches from the English Premier League, but occasionally we’ll be throwing in a few fixtures from other leagues and from the prediction league players favourite teams (outside of the EPL obviously). - If you want your team featured on the predicts then Contact us here.

- How to enter your predictions:
(When you are signed in) Click on “My Predictions”.
You will then see a list of all the matches.
Enter in what you think the result will be and click on the “Predict” button.
If you’ve selected the option in your profile you will receive an email confirming your predicts.

*PLEASE NOTE*
The Game Time is on UK BST time (and switched over to GMT in October).
You can do your prediction right up until kick off of each match.

-> THE POINTS/WHAT’S THE SCORING ? HOW DOES THAT WORK ?

You earn points by predicting the outcome correctly - either by getting the right score or the right result.
- Predict a correct result - ie: You enter 2-1 and the result is 1-nil, you will get 1 point.
- Predict a correct score - ie: You enter 3-0 and the result is 3-0 you get 3 points (1 for a correct result, 2 a for correct score)

-> THE LEAGUE/HOW DOES THAT WORK ?
Works the same as a footie league. Predict more games correctly and get more wins > more points for you.

-> WHAT IF I DON’T DO MY PREDICTIONS or FORGET TO DO MY PREDICTIONS ?
It is up to you to make sure you enter in a prediction for every game. Don’t worry too much if you miss a couple. It does happen. (We will not enter in extra matches so you can catch up, if you miss predicting a match/couple of matches or a week it is tough titties.)

-> WHAT IF I DON’T WANT TO PLAY ANY MORE ?
If you want to take your Mitre Delta Ultra and go home then that’s your choice. You can delete yourself from the league by clicking on your profile and entering in your password and pressing the button at the bottom.

-> WHAT IF I STOP DOING MY PREDICTIONS ?
We will send you a reminder and if no predictions are done in 4 weeks you will be relegated (aka deleted) from the league.
